Orange may not be the first colour one associates with the English Country House, but perhaps it ought to be. From mellow ochres and faded apricots to rich terracottas and deep, burnished tones, orange brings warmth and a touch of eccentricity to rooms filled with antiques, old fabrics and well-loved furniture. These nine interiors show just how wonderfully at home the colour can be in an English house, and make a rather good case for being a little bolder with paint.
